Your laser facial appointment, step by step
Consultation and patch test
We talk through your skin concerns, check your skin is suitable, carry out a patch test and give you pre care advice so your skin is ready for treatment. The consultation costs £15, which is deducted from your treatment.
Your laser facial
Arrive with clean, dry, make up free skin. You wear protective goggles, and your practitioner guides you through each stage of the treatment and checks you are comfortable throughout.
Aftercare
You may have some redness and warmth in the skin afterwards. We apply cooling products and SPF to the treated areas and give you aftercare advice to follow, which for iPixel resurfacing covers the two weeks after treatment.
ClearLift laser skin rejuvenation
ClearLift is the laser behind our Lift and Firm Laser Facial. It is a non ablative, fractional Q-switched Nd:YAG laser that works in the deeper layers of the skin without breaking the surface, so there is no downtime, no visible wound and very little discomfort. Short pulses of laser light break up pigment and stimulate new collagen in the dermis. It is often called the lunchtime facelift, because results show straight away and keep improving over the following weeks as the skin firms and tone evens out.
What ClearLift treats
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Crow's feet and lines around the mouth
- Nose to mouth lines
- Sun damage and photo ageing
- Pigmentation and melasma
- Uneven skin tone
- Large or visible pores
- Dark circles under the eyes
- Skin laxity
ClearLift can be used on the face, neck, chest and hands, and it can be combined with ClearSkin Pro and our other lasers to treat scarring, acne scarring and redness in the same session. Whether you are dealing with menopausal skin changes or general signs of ageing, it supports the skin's own repair, and many clients pair it with polynucleotides for skin regeneration. Prices for the face are in the Lift and Firm table above, and areas such as the hands and chest are priced at your consultation.

ClearLift before and after

Results vary from person to person.
iPixel fractional laser skin resurfacing
iPixel is the laser behind our Renew 360 resurfacing facial. It is a fractional ablative Erbium:YAG laser that creates thousands of tiny, evenly spaced treatment zones in the skin, known as pixels, and leaves the skin between them untouched. Because only a fraction of the skin is treated at a time, it heals faster than a fully ablative CO2 laser. The micro wounds trigger the skin's natural healing response and the production of new collagen and elastin, so over the following weeks the surface becomes smoother, tone evens out and lines and scars soften.
What iPixel treats
- Acne scars
- Surgery and injury scars
- Deep lines and signs of ageing
- Uneven skin tone and texture
- Large pores
- Loss of firmness and crepey skin
- Superficial pigmentation
- Stretch marks
iPixel can resurface the whole face or smaller areas of concern on the face and body. Not sure which technology suits your skin? Read our CO2 vs Harmony laser comparison before booking.

What your skin looks like after laser resurfacing
Straight after treatment the skin is red and slightly swollen, much like sunburn, and needs looking after in the same way. Over the next 24 to 48 hours the redness settles and a grid of small pixel marks appears where the laser treated the skin. These can darken for a few days before they clear, as long as you follow the aftercare advice. By day 7 to 10 the skin has cleared, pores look smaller and tone is more even, and most people are back in their normal make up within a few days. Results keep developing over the following weeks and months as new collagen forms.

Laser resurfacing for scars and stretch marks
iPixel resurfacing works on scars on the face and body, including acne scars, surgery and injury scars and caesarean section scars, and it can reduce the appearance of stretch marks. As the treated skin heals, new collagen forms and the scar becomes smoother and closer to the surrounding skin in tone and texture.
A small scar on the face or body starts from £100 a session. Larger scars and stretch marks vary in size, so we assess the area and confirm the price at your consultation. Treatments are spaced at least four weeks apart so the skin can heal fully, and your practitioner will recommend how many you need. iPixel can treat other areas of the body too, so get in touch if the area you would like treated is not listed.

Laser facial questions
How much do laser facials cost in Hertford?
Laser facials start from £100 for the eye area and £150 for a half face. Full face facials are £250, Renew 360 resurfacing is £200 to £350 (£100 for a small scar or small area), and BTS Titanium Lifting is £160 to £215 a session. Courses of four, or three for Titanium, cost less per session. The £15 consultation and patch test is deducted from your treatment, and the final price depends on the facial and the area treated, which we confirm at your consultation.
Which laser facial is right for my skin?
It depends on your main concern. Lift and Firm suits fine lines and loss of firmness, Renew 360 suits texture and scarring, Signature Pigment Renewal suits dark spots and sun damage, Redness Rescue suits redness, Blemish Reset suits breakouts and the marks they leave, and BTS Titanium Lifting tightens and lifts the skin with no downtime. Your practitioner will recommend one at your consultation.
Is there any downtime?
Lift and Firm and BTS Titanium Lifting have no downtime. After iPixel resurfacing, expect redness and a warm, sunburn-like feeling for a day or two, and the skin can feel rough as it heals over the following week.
Does laser skin resurfacing hurt?
iPixel resurfacing is not usually painful, although you may feel a heat sensation, and your practitioner checks you are comfortable throughout. Afterwards the skin can feel like sunburn for a day or two.
How many treatments will I need?
Results build over a course. For Lift and Firm we recommend four to six treatments at three to four week intervals. Resurfacing treatments are spaced at least four weeks apart, and your practitioner will recommend a course at your consultation.
Can I go in the sun afterwards?
Avoid direct sun before and after treatment and wear SPF 50, as sun exposure can interfere with the laser and cause pigmentation. It is one reason autumn and winter are popular times for laser skin treatments.
Is iPixel the same as Fraxel or CO2?
They are different lasers in the same family. iPixel and Fraxel are both fractional lasers that resurface the skin in microscopic columns. CO2 is another laser used for resurfacing, known for deeper results with more downtime. iPixel is the fractional laser we use at Aqua-Tox.
Do I need a consultation before a laser facial?
Yes. Every new client has a £15 consultation and patch test before any laser treatment. We assess your skin, talk through your concerns, confirm the price and carry out the patch test, and the £15 is deducted from your treatment.
What is ClearLift?
ClearLift is a non ablative, fractional Q-switched Nd:YAG laser on the Harmony XL Pro platform. It works in the deeper layers of the skin to stimulate collagen and break up pigment without breaking the surface, so there is no downtime. It is the laser used in our Lift and Firm Laser Facial.
What is a Q-switched laser?
A Q-switched laser delivers its energy in extremely short, powerful pulses. ClearLift uses a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser in a fractional pattern, which lets it reach the deeper layers of the skin to rejuvenate it without damaging the surface. Q-switched lasers are also used for tattoo removal.
Does ClearLift hurt or break the skin?
No. ClearLift is a very gentle laser that most people do not find painful, and it does not break or pierce the skin. It works in the deeper layers, which is where the rejuvenation and collagen renewal take place.
How do I prepare for a ClearLift treatment?
You need a consultation and patch test first. Avoid fake tan for three weeks before treatment and keep sun exposure to a minimum in the weeks leading up to it. Stop using active ingredients such as retinol and salicylic acid three days before, and arrive with clean, dry, make up free skin.
What should I do after a laser facial?
Wear SPF 50 every day and avoid sun exposure in the weeks after treatment, as the skin is more sensitive. After ClearLift you can go straight back to your day. After iPixel resurfacing, follow the aftercare advice you are given for the two weeks after treatment.
How does iPixel laser resurfacing work?
iPixel is a fractional Erbium:YAG laser. It creates thousands of tiny treatment zones in the skin while leaving the skin around them intact, which triggers the skin's healing response and the production of new collagen and elastin. As the skin heals, the surface becomes smoother and lines, pores and scars look less visible.
Is laser skin resurfacing safe?
Yes, when it is carried out by a trained practitioner after a consultation and patch test. We use the Harmony XL Pro laser platform, which is FDA cleared, and because iPixel is a fractional laser it leaves the skin around each treatment zone intact, which helps it heal quickly. We check your skin type and history before any treatment.
What is the difference between iPixel and CO2 laser resurfacing?
Both are fractional resurfacing lasers. iPixel uses an Erbium:YAG laser, while CO2 resurfacing uses a carbon dioxide laser. CO2 can give deeper results faster but is usually more uncomfortable, with a longer recovery. iPixel gives resurfacing results with less downtime and is easier to tolerate. Read our CO2 vs Harmony laser comparison.
Does laser resurfacing work on acne scars?
Yes. iPixel resurfacing is one of the most effective treatments for acne scarring and other scars on the face and body. It stimulates new collagen, which smooths the surface and evens out tone and texture over a course of sessions.
Can laser resurfacing treat stretch marks?
Yes, iPixel can reduce the appearance of stretch marks on the body. We assess the area at your consultation and confirm the price, as it depends on the size of the area treated.
When can I wear make up after laser resurfacing?
Most people are back in their normal make up within a few days of iPixel resurfacing. Your practitioner will tell you when it is fine to wear make up after your treatment.
Can you use numbing cream for laser resurfacing?
Yes. Most people describe iPixel as a warm, prickling sensation rather than pain, but for deeper treatments we can apply numbing cream beforehand. The feeling settles quickly once the session ends.
Can laser facials be combined with other treatments?
Yes. ClearLift can be combined with ClearSkin Pro and our other lasers to treat scarring, acne scarring and redness in the same session, and the Renew 360 facial combines iPixel, ClearLift and ClearSkin. Many clients also pair laser with polynucleotides for skin regeneration. Your practitioner will suggest a plan at your consultation.
What are the alternatives to laser skin resurfacing?
If you want less downtime, ClearLift rejuvenation in our Lift and Firm Laser Facial treats milder versions of many of the same concerns. If laser is not right for you, we also offer chemical peels, RF microneedling and medical grade facials, and we will talk through the options at your consultation.
Where can I have laser skin resurfacing near me?
At our clinic at Foxholes Farm, London Road, Hertford SG13 7NT, just off the A10 and A414, with free parking on site. Clients come to us for iPixel resurfacing and laser facials from across Hertfordshire and Essex, including Ware, Hoddesdon, Broxbourne, Welwyn Garden City and Stevenage.
