If you have a tattoo that you wish you never had, or have one that’s faded over time so want to now remove it the ClearLift Tattoo & Permanent Make Up Removal treatment is for you.
At Aqua-Tox we use the Harmony XL Pro skin laser to provide exceptional tattoo removal results from the very first session. Depending on the age and quality of the tattoo you will likely see a clearly visible reduction in the tattoo after healing from your initial session.
Much like getting a tattoo in the first place, tattoo removal can be a slightly uncomfortable process. To make you as comfortable as possible we use our localised cryotherapy treatment alongside the laser tattoo removal to cool the skin and minimise discomfort.
How does tattoo removal work?
With the ClearLift technology in the Harmony XL Pro, the laser light energy penetrates the skin which is absorbed by the tattoo ink trapped in the dermis layer of the skin. As the ink absorbs the light energy, the particles split into fragments which are then removed by the body’s lymphatic system.
The tattoo removal process is carried out in stages as the skin needs time to heal between sessions. The below images show the process from beginning to second session. As shown most people will see a visible reduction in their tattoo after healing from the initial session.
Pre removal
Before tattoo removal a consultation will be carried out to assess your tattoo and complete a patch test. You can book a skin laser consultation and patch test online or contact us.
1 week post initial session
Healing takes place in a number of stages. By the end of one week redness and scabbing will begin to reduce.
8 weeks post initial session
We recommend 8-12 weeks healing time before further removal sessions. This allows the skin to fully heal and the broken pigment to be eliminated from the body.
After second session
Immediately after the tattoo removal treatment you will experience redness. The treated area should be kept clean and dry. Healing will continue over the coming weeks.
Book a consultation
Prior to tattoo removal we invite you to book a treatment consultation with one of our experienced clinic practitioners to assess your tattoo, confirm a price and complete a patch test. The cost of the consultation is £15 however this will be deducted from your treatment price.
Eyebrow Tattoo Removal
Just like tattoos anywhere else on the body we can also remove permanent make up (PMU) & microblading using the Harmony XL Pro laser. Many clients come to us with botched microblading or faded PMU that they no longer want to live with. The time it takes to remove permanent make up fully depends on the age and quality of the ink however many clients see great improvements after only one session.
This image shows results after just one session of permanent make up removal on the eyebrows.

Tattoo Removal FAQs
How does laser tattoo removal work?
The tattoo removal process uses laser light energy to penetrate the skin. This light energy is absorbed by the tattoo ink trapped in the dermis layer of the skin. As the ink absorbs the light energy, the particles split into fragments which are then removed by the body’s lymphatic system.
Is tattoo removal safe?
Yes, tattoo removal is both safe and effective. We use the Harmony XL Pro laser system which is industry leading technology for tattoo removal and FDA approved. The process is only carried out by specially trained clinicians and requires prior consultation and a patch test to ensure safety and effectiveness.
Can a tattoo be completely removed?
This is totally dependent on your tattoo and your skin type. In most cases a course of tattoo removal over a period of months will give extremely effective results and either fully remove the tattoo or leave only a light shadow. As you start your course of treatments your clinician will be able to keep you updated on the progress of your removal and how your skin is responding to the laser treatment.
Is it painful to remove a tattoo?
Tattoo removal can be fairly uncomfortable, much like having a tattoo in the first place. However, at Aqua-Tox we offer the option to have localised cryotherapy alongside laser tattoo removal to cool the skin and reduce pain and discomfort during the tattoo removal process.
Does removing a tattoo leave a scar?
No, it is very rare for tattoo removal to leave a scar. However, if you already have scarring under the tattoo this will remain as the laser treatment is only targeting the tattoo and not scarring. Dependent on your tattoo and skin type you may see a faint outline/shadow of your tattoo following a course of treatment which is sometimes referred to as a scar.
How long does it take to remove a tattoo?
There are many factors that influence how long it takes to remove a tattoo including skin type, tattoo age, size, quality and density (e.g. cover up). A course of 8-12 treatments is suggested with treatments every 8-12 weeks, therefore it is not unusual for it to take 12-18 months to complete the full tattoo removal process. If you are looking to remove your tattoo ahead of a special occasion such as a wedding it is best to start sooner rather than later to allow for sufficient time.
How much does tattoo removal cost?
The cost of tattoo removal is dependent on the size of your tattoo and the time it will take to treat the area. Small tattoos that can be treated within 15 minutes cost £70, with the cost increasing with larger tattoos that require more removal time, full details are in our tattoo removal price list.
Can I get tattoo removal on my face?
Yes, we regularly treat the face to remove microblading and permanent make up. It can be more difficult to live with unwanted facial tattoos day to day than those on other areas of the body that can be easily covered up. We aim to make the process of removing facial tattoos and permanent make up as comfortable as possible by combining the removal with cooling localised cryotherapy.
Where is the tattoo removal clinic?
The tattoo removal happens at our wellness clinic in Hertford, Hertfordshire. We’re based at Foxholes Farm, just off the A414 where you will find ample free parking, a farm shop and other local businesses. We have clients who visit us from all over Hertfordshire & Essex as we are easily reachable from the M25 and A10.
