At Aqua-Tox we use the revolutionary Cryoair localised cold air therapy device designed to target and focus on specific areas of the body.
Local cryotherapy is non-invasive and used to treat both acute and chronic injuries of the soft tissue to help ease pain, inflammation and swelling.
It can provide targeted pain relief which can help support recovery from injury or surgery.
During localised cryotherapy the cold air triggers the bodies anti-inflammatory response speeding up the healing process for conditions such as back pain, sports injuries, rheumatic diseases, psoriasis and other inflammatory diseases.
Cryotherapy also boosts collagen production and cellulite reduction.
The number of sessions needed will vary depending on the client and injury/condition. We recommend a block of treatments close together to maximise the healing effect at the injured site.

Local Cryotherapy FAQs
What is Localised Cryotherapy?
The concept of localised cryotherapy is based on the short-term application of cold air to a particular area of the body. This will stimulate the brains response to the cold air to initially take blood away from the skin to vital organs. After the cold air has been applied the thermoreceptors no longer pick up this signal and the blood rushes back to the treatment area at a much higher oxygenation rate. This response is called Cryostimulation.
Cryostimulation can help repair muscular injuries up to three times quicker than normal, reducing inflammation and bruising whilst speeding up cell regeneration for faster healing.
Is Local Cryotherapy Safe?
Cryotherapy using CryoAir is an effective treatment that safely exposes the skin surface to sub-zero temperatures that stimulates multiple health benefits. When the body experiences this extreme cold, it triggers the body’s natural defence system. This releases endorphins, boosts blood circulation and increases the body’s metabolic rate. The overall physiological response is to recover, repair and rejuvenate the skin and body.
Is Localised Cryotherapy Uncomfortable?
This is a relaxing treatment that lasts approximately 15 minutes, depending on the severity of the injury, more than one treatment may be necessary to achieve the best result. Depending on the area being treated, you will either be sat down on a chair or we may ask you to lie down on a treatment bed.
