The Obagi Blue Peel Radiance is a gentle superficial skin peel that gives effective results without the harshness of more traditional ablative skin peels.
The result of this chemical peel will clear dead skin and unblock pores leaving your skin tighter, brighter and smoother in appearance with as little as one treatment.
Blue Peel Radiance utilises a combination of salicylic acid, glycolic acid and lactic acid making it suitable for a wide range of skin types including oily blemish prone skin.
What does a skin peel do and what are the benefits?
The Obagi Blue Peel Radiance chemical peel works at a superficial skin level to shed the outer layer of dead skin and unclog blocked pores to reveal fresher healthier skin. Before the peel is applied the skin will be thoroughly cleansed to ensure the peel can penetrate into the epidermis. When applied the the combination of ingredients in the peel produce a short term reaction that can feel tingly and create redness but is not painful. This reaction is the crux of the treatment and allows the outer layer of the skin shed.
This superficial chemical skin peel is suitable for most skin types and can treat many skin concerns including blemishes/acne prone, scarring, sun damage, pigmentation and uneven skin tone. A single treatment can reveal effective results but a course of 4-6 peels is usually recommended to achieve the maximum benefit and longer term results. Guided by a skincare expert peels can also be used alongside some other treatment options.

The Obagi Blue Peel is a more ablative peel that works deeper into the skin and requires appropriate pre care and aftercare. This peel is only suitable for those who have been using the Obagi Nu Derm system for a minimum of 6 weeks. Visible skin shedding will occur following this treatment and appropriate skincare & SPF protection will need to be used.
How long does it take for Obagi blue peel radiance to heal?
Obagi Blue Peel Radiance is a superficial skin peel and therefore has minimal downtime and healing time. However, it is important to ensure that suitable skincare and SPF protection is used following treatment. Advice on this will be giving during the treatment.
How often can you do Obagi Blue Radiance Peel?
We recommend a course of 4-6 Blue Peel Radiance treatments taken 2-3 weeks apart to achieve maximum results.
What to expect after Obagi Blue Peel Radiance?

What is in the Blue Peel Radiance peel?
Obagi Blue Peel Radiance contains Salicylic Acid (20%), Glycolic Acid (2%) and Lactic Acid (2%).
How painful is blue peel radiance?
The Blue Peel Radiance chemical peel is not painful. You may experience some discomfort and tingling as the peel is applied and for around 2 minutes whilst it works however most people do not find this painful. Your therapist will check in with you throughout to assess how it feels and will also be visually assessing how your skin reacts to the peel application.
What aftercare do I need after a skin peel?
After an Obagi Blue Peel Radiance facial you will need to use a suitable medical grade moisturiser and SPF. We recommend the Obagi range and have this available to purchase in the clinic.
You should avoid direct sun exposure in the 14 days following a peel and always use an SPF when outdoors.
In the 72 hours following treatment you should avoid excessive heat or sweating e.g. hot baths, showers, exercise, saunas, steam rooms. You should also avoid any exfoliation, rubbing or picking of the skin.
Can I have a peel on my neck or back?
Yes we can perform the Blue Peel Radiance treatment on the neck, shoulders and back if you are suffering from breakouts or pigmentation in these areas. If you would like to have the peel on areas of the body please contact us when booking so that we can plan for this.
What are the side effects of an Obagi peel?
Side effects from a Blue Peel Radiance treatment are usually minimal and most people tolerate the treatment well with no side effects.
Skin can become more sensitive in the days following treatment and in some cases side effects can include irritation & itching, redness, swelling and peeling or scabbing of the skin.
